2015-2020 Ford F150 Build Guide

Here is our buyers guide for F150 owners, written by an F150 owner.  We will start with the basic and most common things to improve your truck.   There are some higher end things and higher priced things you can do but you can search our page and find those.  I'll cover the more reasonably priced brands and mods that should fit most budgets.

Survey Says.... Level Kits is the number one answer

We know, you want to put bigger tires on your F150. So you have to at least level it. The most popular way to level the F150 is with a Bilstein 5100 kit. This replaces your front shocks but uses the OE spring to help keep the factory ride quality but with an upgraded shock that allows you to choose where to set the spring height. The kit is completed with a pair of matching rear shocks.

If you are going to hit the trails hard then look into our Stage 2 Bilstein kit. This kit comes with the Bilstein 6112 front shocks that are 2.5" diameter, so they are bigger and stronger than the stock shocks. They also come with a Bilstein specific coil spring. Then the kit is matched with a pair of Bilstein 5160 remote reservoir rear shocks.

Its ok to inhale

There are many choices out there for a cold air intake system. When we are asked to install one at the shop we use S&B systems. They are well made, improve air flow, use large filters and usually cost less than the competition. Pick the right one for your year and engine, dont blame me if you cant read.

Exhale

Changing the exhaust is a very personal taste. Some want it loud, some want a little rumble. I'll just say what I like that gave me the right exhaust tone without being too loud and without being too expensive. Now this kit from MBRP will fit 5.0L and Ecoboost trucks. I personally run it on an Ecoboost and it sounds great. And believe me, not many systems can make an Ecoboost sound good. For most of us this kit below will be fine but if you live in an area more prone to rust then get the stainless steel version part number MBRPS5256409

Lights You Can Use

A lighting upgrade that is useful and street legal. These Baja Designs SAE approved LED fog pocket kits are easy to install and are plug and play with your factory fog light harness. They are huge improvement over the stock fog lights and will be useful in offroad use as well. Available in Amber and Clear.

Now This is Fun, PsHHHH

This is one of my personal favorite mods on my EcoBoost F150. The Turbosmart Electronic Blow Off Valve is not going to give you any more horsepower but it does make driving the truck much more fun. Make those Subaru drivers jealous when they realize its an F150 making blow off valve noises.
