More Upgrades to the JK Wrangler, Ball Joints, Control Arms, Rear Track Bar

So the JK has been great with the 2.5" Teraflex lift with Falcon shocks.  But if you have a Jeep you know the urge to keep upgrading.  Sometimes things are necessary and sometimes we just want to make stuff better.

Lets start off with the necessary... Ball Joints.  If you have your Wrangler long enough then there's a good chance you will need to replace the front ball joints.  I could feel them loose and rattle just driving around on the daily commute.   We first tried a brand we had good luck with in the past but the set we got for my JK were too tight and did not loosen up after 500 mile break in.  So we did the ball joints again stepped up to the TeraFlex HD Ball Joint Kit.

These ball joints are rebuildable and adjustable.  They were smooth as butter right away with no break in period needed.  Wish we would have done these the first time.  They also have dual grease fittings in the lower joints to make greasing them a breeze.

While updating the ball joints I decided to complete the suspension with the remaining TeraFlex Sport control arms.  The lift kit came with the front lower arms needed to correct the caster angles.  So I ordered the front upper and the rear upper and lower arms to make it a complete 8 piece kit.  The front upper control arms seemed the most worn out and had a little play in the bushing so it was a repair and improvement project.  Plus these arms are made specifically for the 2.5" lift so they are the correct length to center the axles and give the proper driveshaft and alignment angles.

When installing the control arms, dont forget that it is important to torque the bolts with the Jeep on the ground so that the arm angles are at ride height.

I noticed a little bit of movement in the rear track bar.  We did not change this before since it did not come in the Teraflex 2.5" lift kit.  The OE track worked well with relocation bracket that came in the kit.  But since the old track bar had some bushing wear we decided to add the Teraflex HD rear track bar.  This bar is heavy duty and adjustable so you can dial in your axle center line.
