Ok we ran those small tires long enough. We wanted to try out the new Falken Wildpeak R/T01 tires that we had heard so much about. We have installed a couple sets on customer trucks but wanted to experience them first had.
Falken describes this tire as "A Hybrid Design Combining the Extreme Off-Road Traction of a Mud-Terrain tire with the On-Road Traction and Comfort of an All-Terrain tire."
The outer part of the tread is similar to what you see on a Mud Terrain tire with the inner part of the tread is more All Terrain style. Unlike most Mud terrain tires these tires are quiet. I did not notice an increase in cab noise when going from the Falken Wildpeak AT3 to these Wildpeak R/T01 tires.
Now the size we went with was 285/75r18. This specs out to 34.8" tall by 11.2" wide. I did not want the typical 35x12.50 tire size. They just dont fit well on a levelled F150 and I think the proportions look off. The 285/75r18 give me the height to width ratio that I wanted for this truck. In the front there was some minor rubbing on the 2013 F150. I had to trim the front air dam and the lower part of the rear wheel well liner.
Your rubbing will vary, especially by year of truck and wheel offset. We just did an install with a set of Toyo Open Country AT3 tires in 285/75r18 on a 18x9 wheel with +20 offset on a 2023 Tremor with 2.5" level kit and we did not have to trim anything.
On our 2013 F-150 we have 18x9 Method 318 wheels with +18mm offset.
